Pelham sleeps soundly after a good run, snuggled in his new/old woollen blanket. The stove is ticking and I hear my own footsteps on the boards. A pear, date and walnut chutney is pending. This is a thick, rich Autumn chutney, using pears from my dear friend Mrs Damazer's garden. We celebrated passover with her in the Spring, so making a chutney which is especially good with pork seems a bit disingenuous. Perhaps she will forgive me if I put her name on the label.
I fell in love with Paul Bommer's work when I lived in London. My children went to school on Brick Lane for several years and I spent many (many) a pleasant afternoon mooching around Spittalfields. I discovered Paul's work in the wonderful and inimitable Town House, on Fournier Street. It is marvellous to be able to stock his work in my own shop at last - and super to be able to commission my first class, local framer, Black Cab Studio in Deeping St James, to do the honours. :)
